NetIM Virtual Edition
Riverbed® NetIM version 2.x represents NetIM’s next generation and a major change from previous releases in terms of scalability, software architecture and deployment.
UPGRADE ALERT:
Prior to upgrading to NetIM 2.9.0 please ensure that you have all notification mechanisms disabled and then perform the upgrade. Please wait for 30 minutes after the upgrade completes and then re-enable the notifications.
This is needed to avoid getting a lot of false alert notifications due to the issue described in KBA S38362
Kindly be aware that the constant value used to represent a “Not Set” value for an Alert Threshold in the "alert-profiles" API has changed in NetIM 2.9.x. Before upgrading to NetIM 2.9.x, please review the KBA S38351. This change has also impacted Pattern-based thresholds on Portal. If you are using Pattern-based thresholds on Portal for NetIM objects, upgrade to NetIM 2.9.1. Portal will need to be rebooted after NetIM has been upgraded to 2.9.1 for this to work correctly in Portal.
The Drools version upgrade in NetIM 2.9.x may require manual migration of your custom Drools rules. Before upgrading to NetIM 2.9.x, please review the KBA S38355.
Kindly be aware that the format of alerts has changed in NetIM 2.8.x. Before upgrading to NetIM 2.8.x or 2.9.x, please review the KBA S38164.
For customers utilizing the Riverbed "Portal" connected to NetIM 2.8.x (with password expiration default equal to 90 days), it is crucial to change passwords before the 90-day expiry and ensure the updated password is reflected in the Portal. Failure to do so may result in loss of connection between the Portal and NetIM. For detailed instructions on changing an account's password expiration settings, please look at Knowledge Base Article S38111.
For customers utilizing the Riverbed "Portal" connected to NetIM 2.9.x you may optionally configure the user connecting to NetIM for its password to “never expire”.
NetIM 2.9.x is available for the following hypervisors: VMware ESXi 7.x and 8.x, Microsoft Hyper-V 2019 and 2022, and Nutanix AOS 6.5.x LTS (AHV version 20220304.x). Images for installation in Azure and Amazon Web Services are also available.
Due to the installation of Ubuntu updates in the NetIM ISO Updates, all NetIM VMs will be rebooted as part of the ISO Update process. Please plan accordingly and request appropriate permissions in your organization. The NetIM ISO Update includes parallel update capability across multiple workers and data managers simultaneously.
