NetIM Virtual Edition
Riverbed® NetIM version 2.x represents NetIM’s next generation and a major change from previous releases in terms of scalability, software architecture and deployment.
If you are starting the upgrade process from any version prior to 2.10.4, please read the alerts for each release you are upgrading to. Release specific alerts are available along with the Software Download links on the release specific pages.
CRITICAL UPGRADE ALERTS FOR NETIM 2.10.x
Prior to upgrading to NetIM 2.10.0 please ensure the following:
- Manager VM has a minimum of 20 GB of memory. Otherwise, your swarm services will not start.
- If you have User Defined Metrics, download the MIB Tool pre-upgrade utility available as a zip file on the Support Site on to your NetIM 2.9.1 Core VM. Unzip the zip file and follow the instructions in the README file to ensure that you may upgrade without having any issues with the existing User Defined Metrics.
IMPORTANT UPGRADE ALERTS FOR NETIM 2.11.x
After the ISO update, starting the swarm services for the first time could take a long time (up to an hour) due to a Cassandra version upgrade in this release.
If you had configured the text-file based “Windows Service” filter feature in the 2.10.x release, you will need to migrate that configuration to the more generic “Metric Component Filters” feature in the 2.11.x release.
For customers utilizing the Riverbed "Portal" connected to NetIM 2.11.x it is recommended to configure the user connecting to NetIM for its password to “never expire”. This will avoid any Portal connection issues due to password expiry.
UPGRADE INFORMATION FOR NETIM 2.11.x
NetIM 2.11.x is available for the following hypervisors: VMware ESXi 7.x and 8.x, Microsoft Hyper-V 2019, 2022 and 2025, and Nutanix AOS 6.10.x LTS (AHV version 203220302.x). Images for installation in Azure and Amazon Web Services are also available. Starting with 2.10.0 NetIM is also available as an Azure Marketplace offering with a BYOL (Bring Your Own License) model.
Due to the installation of Ubuntu updates in the NetIM ISO Updates, all NetIM VMs will be rebooted as part of the ISO Update process. Please plan accordingly and request appropriate permissions in your organization. The NetIM ISO Update includes parallel update capability across multiple workers and data managers simultaneously.
