Assigning notifications
Each type of alert notification can be sent to a specified recipient. For security policies, user-defined policies, and health policies, notifications can also be sent to the owners of host groups involved in the alert. To assign delivery destinations to alert notifications:
-
Go to the Definitions > Notifications page.
-
On the Policies tab, click each High, Medium, and Low table cell that you want to assign to a particular recipient. (Clicking toggles these selections on and off. Click in the empty area of the first table cell to select all trap types.)
-
Click Set Recipient.
-
From the drop down menu, choose one of the following:
-
Log Only – to record and display the alert on the NetProfiler , but not send an alert notification. (This menu selection is prefixed with an asterisk to distinguish it from actual recipient names.)
-
Owner – to send all the selected notification types to all recipients who are owners of any group involved in the alert. This menu selection is prefixed with an asterisk to distinguish it from actual recipient names. Note that owner-based notification is not available for service policies or performance and availability policies.
-
<recipient name> – to send the selected notifications to a recipient you have defined. If you have not defined any recipients, notifications will be sent to the Default recipient (if it has been specified). If you have not specified a destination for Default, then the NetProfiler logs events but does not send notifications. The result of having no recipients specified is the same as having selected Log Only.
-
-
Repeat these steps for each group of notifications that you want to assign to a recipient.
-
Click Apply.
You can select an entire row or column at one time by clicking the row or column title. You can select all rows and columns by clicking the upper-left-most table cell.
