Configuring CIFS optimization
This section describes how to optimize CIFS. It includes these topics:
You display and modify CIFS optimization and SMB signing settings in the Optimization > Protocols: CIFS (SMB1) page and the Optimization > Protocols: SMB2/3 pages.
For all SteelHead models except CX 580, 780, and 3080, CIFS latency optimization doesn’t require a separate license. The CX 580, 780, and 3080 models require the Standard licensing tier or better.
SMB3 and Kerberos Authentication Support are enabled by default. Typically, you disable CIFS optimizations only to troubleshoot the system.
You may also want to learn about the WinSec Controller, which is purpose-built to operate in secure environments. For details, see the
WinSec Controller User Guide. To add a WinSec Controller appliance, see
Adding a WinSec Controller appliance.
