WAN interface groups
Although the WAN view is displayed on the Definitions > Interface Groups, it is handled slightly differently from user-defined network views and interface groups. The WAN view of the network is automatically created by the NetProfiler and always has only two interface groups: Optimized and Non-optimized
These two interface groups contain only interfaces and not devices or interface subgroups.
NetProfiler automatically identifies WAN interfaces on SteelHead appliances that are sending it NetFlow 5.1 or SteelFlow Net. Use the Find Riverbed QoS devices button to automatically populate the group with SteelHead WAN interfaces. Other WAN interfaces must be added to the groups using the search tool. This process is typically performed on the Definitions > WAN page. The WAN view displayed on the Definitions > Interface Groups page is the same as the display on the Definitions > WAN page.
If you move an optimized WAN interface for a SteelHead appliance of version 5.5.3 or higher out of the Optimized group, the NetProfiler will move it back into the Optimized group the next time it receives flow information from the SteelHead and recognizes it as a WAN optimization device.
If you drag and drop or otherwise move an interface into the Non-optimized group, NetProfiler will treat it as a non-optimized WAN interface.
