Import or export an interface group or network view
The definitions of network views and interface groups can be exported and imported as XML files. more
This allows you to copy views and groups from one NetProfiler to another.
Moving everything at once
You can export all network view definitions, which include all interface group definitions, in one step by choosing Export Views from the drop-down menu in the Network Views section of Definitions > Interface Groups page. You can then import this file into another NetProfiler by choosing Import Views from the same menu on that NetProfiler.
When you import definitions, a message box prompts you to browse to the XML file to import and choose whether to merge or replace definitions. Selecting Merge results in the destination appliance having all its existing definitions plus all the imported definitions. Selecting Replace removes all the existing definitions (except Deployment) and replaces them completely with the imported definitions. The Deployment view is not affected by importing definitions. This view is generated by the appliance itself based on the interfaces it is actually receiving traffic data from, so it cannot be modified.
Exporting a selected interface group or network view
To export the definitions of just one interface group or network view, right-click the group or view in the Network Views section of Definitions > Interface Groups page and choose Export from the right-click menu. (Right-click the name of the view, not the icon.)
You can also export an interface group or network view that is displayed in the Member of Group/View section of the Definitions > Interface Groups page. Choose Export from the menu on the title bar of that section to export the group.
Importing an individual network view
An XML file containing the definition of a single network view is imported the same way as a file containing the definitions of all network views. Go to the drop-down menu in the Network Views section of Definitions > Interface Groups page and choose Import Views. This displays a message box in which you can select Merge or Replace. Selecting Replace causes the imported view definition to replace any existing view of the same name. (A view named "Deployment" cannot be imported.) Selecting Merge causes the members of the imported view to be merged into any existing view of the same name. A network view cannot be imported into an interface group.
Importing an interface group
An interface group can be imported to either a network view or another interface group in the Network Views section of Definitions > Interface Groups page. Right-click the view or group that is to be the parent of the imported group. Select Import from the right-click menu.
Additionally, an interface group can be imported as a member of another interface group that is displayed in the Members of Group section of the Definitions > Interface Groups page. Choose the group that is to be the parent group by clicking its name in the Network Views section of the page. Then in the Members of Group section of the page, choose Import from the menu on the title bar of the section.
