Define an interface subgroup
To define an interface group within another interface group:
-
Go to the Definitions > Interface Groups page.
-
Either:
-
-
Right-click the name of the group in the Network Views section and choose Create New Group from the right-click menu. (Right-click the name of the group, not the icon.)
-
Or, select the group in the Network Views section and choose Create New Group from the menu on the title bar of the Members of Interface Group section of the page.
-
-
Enter the name of the group as it to appear in the Members of Interface Group list and optionally add a description.
-
Click Add. This creates an empty interface subgroup within the parent group. The subgroup is listed under the parent group in the Network Views section of the page.
To add members to this subgroup or to edit its name or description,
-
Select the subgroup in the Network Views section of the page.
-
Either:
-
Right-click the name of the subgroup in the Network Views section and choose Add Members from the right-click menu. (Right-click the name of the group, not the icon.)
-
Or, choose Add Members from the menu on the title bar of the Members of Interface Group section of the page.
-
-
Use the search tool to search for interfaces, devices or interface groups to add as members.
-
If the list of search results is lengthy and you make many selections, it may be helpful to open the Selected section and review your selections. Click the X in a selection to delete it from the list.
-
Click OK to add the selected interfaces, devices or interface groups as members of the group.
Selecting a device automatically selects all its interfaces that are sending traffic information to the NetProfiler appliance. Adding a "reporting device," such as the Flow Gateway appliance, adds all that device's routers and all the routers' interfaces. If additional interfaces on that device begin sending data to the NetProfiler appliance at some future time, they are automatically added to the interface group also.
