Share dashboards with external users
To create a read-only version of a dashboard that can be shared with others who are not logged in to the NetProfiler appliance,
-
On the Dashboard page, click the dashboard you want to share in the Dashboards navigation panel.
-
When the dashboard is displayed in the content area of the page, open the Dashboard Options menu and choose Enable Link Sharing. This creates a link to a read-only version of the dashboard.
-
Open the Dashboard Options menu again and choose Copy Link to Clipboard or Show Link to retrieve the URL.
You can share this link with external users so that they can access a read-only version of this dashboard without logging in to the NetProfiler. External users will see the contents of the dashboard in a simplified interface that does not include the usual NetProfiler menu options and controls that appear for authenticated users. They will have access to a limited set of dashboard options for printing and emailing dashboards and for exporting dashboards and dashboard widgets. -
Repeat steps 3-5 to share additional dashboards.
To revoke access to the read-only version of the dashboard,
-
On the Dashboard page, click the dashboard you want to revoke access to in the Dashboards navigation panel.
-
When the dashboard is displayed in the content area of the page, open the Dashboard Options menu and choose Disable Link Sharing. The previously created link is no longer valid.
Access to the dashboard link sharing is restricted to certain user roles and permission settings on the appliance.
- Dashboard link sharing must be enabled globally on the appliance (Administration > Security Compliance page, Enable unauthenticated resource sharing ("shared links") checkbox). This page is accessible to Administrator accounts only.
- To enable dashboard link sharing for a particular dashboard, you must be logged in to an Administrator, Operator, or Monitor account. Operator and Monitor accounts must also have permission to edit dashboards created by other users (Administration > User Accounts > Edit/New > Reporting).
