About this guide
Welcome to the SteelHead Interceptor Deployment Guide. This guide describes the Interceptor, including how to design and deploy an Interceptor and SteelHead cluster.
Audience
This guide is written for storage and network administrators who are familiar with administering and managing WANs using common network protocols such as TCP, CIFS, HTTP, FTP, and NFS.
You must also be familiar with:
•  the Interceptor. For details, see the SteelHead Interceptor User’s Guide and the SteelHead Interceptor Installation Guide.
•  the Management Console. For details, see the SteelHead Management Console User’s Guide.
•  connecting to the RiOS CLI. For details, see the Riverbed Command-Line Interface Reference Manual.
•  the installation and configuration process for the SteelHead. For details, see the SteelHead Installation and Configuration Guide.
Note: The Interceptor CLI commands used in the configuration examples use Interceptor 3.0 and later. For information about Interceptor versions prior to 3.0, see the appropriate version of the SteelHead Interceptor User’s Guide and the Riverbed Command-Line Interface Reference Manual.

The pipe symbol separates alternative, mutually exclusive elements of a choice. The pipe symbol is used in conjunction with braces or brackets; the braces or brackets group the choices and identify them as required or optional: {delete <filename> | upload <filename>}
