About TCP, Satellite, and SkipWare
Transport settings include settings related to Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Space Communications Protocol Standards (SCPS). These are important settings for networks that include satellite channels.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) partnered to create the Space Communications Protocol Standards-Transport Protocol (SCPS-TP) to meet the needs of satellite and wireless communication. Today, the SCPS protocol, designed to operate in high-latency limited-bandwidth environments, is also used by many private sector enterprises.
Riverbed acceleration products include compatibility settings for SCPS and incorporate SkipWare, an exclusive technology that senses changes in bandwidth allocation and automatically adjusts its transmission window in response.
SkipWare features require a separate SCPS license. SkipWare is automatically enabled when the license is installed, regardless of the selected transport acceleration method. The Management Console dims these settings until a SCPS license is installed.
Installing the SCPS license requires service restart.
The role-based permission Optimization Service role is required to change SCPS settings.
