About CIFS
CIFS acceleration performs latency and SDR optimization on SMB1 connections. Latency is fundamental to CIFS acceleration and is required for base optimized connections for file opens and reads. Latency optimization incorporates several hundred individual connection types. The most frequent type of file opens is where exclusive opportunistic locks have been granted, and read-ahead operations are initiated on the file data. The appliance optimizes the bandwidth used to transfer the read-ahead data between server and client.
With latency optimization disabled, appliances still perform SDR, but latency isn’t improved.
SteelHead models x80 and 3080 require a separate license, or the Standard licensing tier or better.
