Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 configuration notes

Before downloading the Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 connector program, ensure that:

  • Your Riverbed representative has enabled the User Identity feature on your NetProfiler.

  • Your user account on the NetProfiler is enabled for viewing user identity information.

  • The target Microsoft Active Directory domain controller has connectivity to the NetProfiler.

  • The Audit Policy of the target Microsoft Active Directory domain controller is set to:
    Audit account logon events:
    Success and Failure

Note: If the Failure audit is not enabled, the NetProfiler will not be able to report failed login attempts.

To download the program:

  1. Log in to a privileged account on the Active Directory domain controller.

  2. Browse to your NetProfiler and log in.

  3. Choose Downloads on the NetProfiler Help menu to display this page.

  4. Click the MazuADConnector.msi link below.

  5. Choose Open.

  6. Answer the questions asked by the installer program and follow the instructions until the installation is complete.

  7. Start the Riverbed AD Connector service on the Active Directory domain controller. (Right-click My Computer, choose Manage from the shortcut menu, and go to Services and Applications > Services.) Alternatively, the Riverbed AD Connector starts automatically when the Active Directory domain controller is rebooted.
