AppResponse Version 11.11.5 is the last version of AppResponse that will furnish new features for these appliances:
• ARX-6000
• ARX-5100
• ARX-4300
• ARX-3800
• ARX-3300
• ARX-2200
• ARX-1200
The following additional statements pertain to the ARX hardware appliances listed above:
• AppResponse Version 11.11.n will be supported on these appliances through August 31, 2023.
• AppResponse Version 11.12 and later will not be supported for these appliances.
• FIPS is disabled and is not supported in Version 11.11.5. If you are using one of these appliances and you need FIPS, remain at Version 11.11.1a.
• Support for AppResponse 9 terminated as of August 31, 2020.
AppResponse 11.4.0 through 11.11.n can be installed on the following ARX appliances running AppResponse 9 (and later):
• ARX-1200
• ARX-2200
• ARX-3300
• ARX-3800
• ARX-4300
• ARX-5100
• ARX-6000
AppResponse 11.4.0 through 11.11.n also supports EXP-300 storage units for ARX-4300, ARX-5100, and ARX-6000 appliances.
AppResponse Xpert 9 version 9.6.2 provides a feature that creates an off-line archive for existing content.
Note: For a successful upgrade, all appliance disks must be healthy. For more information review the document mentioned above.
Important: The existing AppResponse 9 software is overwritten and all data is deleted.
There is no means to recover AppResponse 9 or any of its data after AppResponse 11 is installed on an appliance. If you want to be able to access the AppResponse 9 data, you must create an archive of the AppResponse 9 installation before you upgrade to AppResponse 11. There are two disks on a fresh installation of the Archiver VM. Disk 1 should never be touched, and disk 2 should not be extended. You will need to add a third disk with the total amount of space needed to accommodate your AR9 systems, then delete the original disk 2. Please review the Archive Storage Estimator described in the 9.6.2 release notes to help determine the amount of space required, and refer also to
KB S30576 for detailed instructions on adding the third disk to the Archive VM.
Note: SteelCentral Portal will not be able to reuse existing AR9 dashboards following migration to AppResponse 11. Any such dashboards will need to be recreated in AppResponse 11.
Riverbed recommends the following:
1. Create an archive of the performance data on the AppResponse 9 appliance. For details, see the release notes for AppResponse 9, version 9.6.2.
2. Export the Business Groups and Application definitions from AppResponse 9; you can import these definitions into AppResponse 11 after the upgrade. For details, see the release notes for AppResponse 9, version 9.6.2.
3. Note the network settings for the management interfaces on the appliance. See “
Initial setup” for the network information that you will need to configure AppResponse 11 after the upgrade.
4. Transfer custom WTA configuration. For details, see the release notes for AppResponse 9, version 9.6.2.
6. Configure AppResponse 11. For details, see the “
Configuration” section of this document.
