About ESXi images
The Edge Installation Server installs the ESXi image on the hardware, and it installs the Edge software image as a VM. You can manage the ESXi image on the installation server, which will be installed on the hardware. For example, you can add new custom images to be installed. However, only one ESXi image is active at a time, and the active image is the one that will be installed.
The Edge Installation Server is bundled with a default ESXi image from Riverbed. You can use the default ESXi image bundled with the Edge Installation Server or use a custom ESXi image.
In any installation environment, only one ESXi image is active at a time. This active image is the one that will be installed. If you are using more than one type of server where each type requires a different ESXi image, we recommend that you set up a separate installation environment for each server.
Running the configure_esxi_image command
Run the configure_esxi_image command to configure the ESXi OS image in Default or Alternate path based on the deployment requirement.
admin@RVBD-PXE:~$ configure_esxi_image -n <image-filename> -p /var/www/html/images/esxi/{Default | Alternate}/<image-filename>.iso
