Cloud device and interface reporting limitations

Some features associated with physical devices and interfaces are not available for virtual devices and interfaces in cloud environments (such as Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Cloud or Microsoft Azure NSG).

The following features on the tabs of the Administration > Devices/Interfaces page are not available for AWS VPC and Azure NSG devices and interfaces:

  • Green, orange and red status indicators

  • Inbound and outbound traffic rates

  • % Utilization indicator

  • Poll link

  • Sampling Rate Override

  • Inbound Speed Override

  • Outbound Speed Override

Additionally, AWS VPC and Azure NSG interfaces are seen as silent interfaces.

To avoid accidently deleting active VPC or NSG interfaces:

  1. Go to the Administration > Devices/Interfaces page Interfaces (List) tab.

  2. In the Label column, assign custom names to the AWS VPC or Azure NSG interfaces.

  3. At the top, right corner of the table, open the Options menu and choose Delete Silent Interfaces.

  4. On the Delete Silent Interfaces pop-up, ensure that the check box for "Include interfaces with custom settings (i.e. inbound or outbound speed override or labels)" is not selected. Deselecting this ensures that the custom-labeled VPC interfaces are not included in the list of silent interfaces to be deleted.
