Identity sources

The NetProfiler can collect user identity information for reports on network users. On the Administration > Integration > Identity Sources page, you can enable or disable NetProfiler use of user identity information from any user identity source.

The NetProfiler uses identity information for generating reports of network users. The sources of the identity information must be configured to send information to the NetProfiler. For example, in order to receive identity information from Microsoft Active Directory domain controllers, you must install the Riverbed-provided connector program on the Active Directory host and configure it to send information about domain users to the NetProfiler. Refer to the Riverbed Support site for the Active Directory Connector program and installation instructions.

Each source from which the NetProfiler is receiving user identity information is listed on the Identity Sources page. If a source produces too much data or data that is not useful, you can configure the NetProfiler to ignore identity data that it receives from that source by selecting Disable in the Actions column of the entry for the source.

If a source is no longer being used, you should disable the connector utility at the source so that it stops sending data. Then delete the entry for that source from the list on the Administration > Integration > Identity Sources page.

Note: User identity information is available to user accounts that an Administrator has enabled to view it. Go to the Administration > Accounts page and edit the user profile to enable or disable user identity viewing, as appropriate.
