In general, each SCC version can manage the features found in the similarly numbered manged appliance version. For optimum compatibility, we recommend aligning SCC and managed appliance versions; the SCC version should be equal to or later than the SteelHead RiOS version.

When managing an earlier-version appliance, the SCC can act on the only features available in managed appliance.

For managed SteelHead Interceptor appliances, SCC can push only Xbridge settings, system settings, security settings, and in-path and load-balancing rules for clusters.

For Client Accelerator, SCC can be used to monitor only. We recommend using Client Accelerator Controller to manage instances of the Client Accelerator client software.

If you plan to upgrade your managed appliances, upgrade the SCC first to avoid disconnections. Older versions of SCC may not connect to newer software versions on managed appliances.
