About backup proxies to mount snapshots of Windows servers and VMs
In the Backup Proxies panel, you can add, modify, or delete backup proxies for use in Windows snapshot backup policies. After you have configured a storage array for backup, you can add a new host in the Backup Proxies panel or in the Backup Proxy page of the Create New Policy wizard.
If you perform data protection for a Windows server or VM and use a Windows proxy server for backup, the cloned snapshots of disks mapped to the Windows host are mounted as disk drives and folders on the Windows proxy server. To avoid this issue, you need to disable the automount feature on the Windows proxy server. To disable the automount feature, run the automount disable command through the DiskPart interpreter on the Windows proxy server.
If the Cores are configured for high availability, each Core should be assigned its own proxy server.
Proxy servers don’t support duplicate VM names. If you are using a single proxy for all configured Edge servers, VM names on each Edge server should be unique to prevent a conflict.
