User Domain Is Different from Server Domain (Bidirectional)—Transparent Mode
Use the following table when the user is in a different domain from the servers in question, there is a bi-directional trust relationship between the domains, and you want to use Transparent mode.
Transparent Mode Different Domain Bidirectional Trust
Domain(Server) | Windows XP Clients | Windows Vista and Windows 2008 Clients | Windows 7 and Windows 2008-R2 Clients |
Windows 2000 | RiOS v6.0 | RiOS v6.0 | RiOS v7.0 |
Windows 2003 | RiOS v6.0 | RiOS v6.0 | RiOS v7.0 |
Windows 2008 | RiOS v6.0 | RiOS v6.0 | RiOS v7.0 |
Windows 2008-R2 | RiOS v6.1 | RiOS v6.1 | RiOS v7.0 |
In releases prior to RiOS v7.0, Transparent mode is not supported. The SteelHead intercepts this traffic but there is no latency benefit or data reduction. Riverbed recommends that you pass-through these types of connections to reduce overhead on the SteelHead.
To use Transparent mode with the default settings in Windows 7 clients, the server-side SteelHead must be running RiOS v7.0 or later and you must join the domain in Active Directory Integrated mode.
For information about setting Transparent mode, Manual and Auto-Delegation mode, see the
SteelHead Management Console User’s Guide. For information about Active Directory Integrated mode, see
Configuring the Server-Side SteelHead for Active Directory Integrated (Windows 2003/2008) and the
SteelHead Management Console User’s Guide.
