Inbound QoS interfaces
This feature applies only to SteelHead.
For details about Inbound QoS environments and deployments, see the SteelHead User Guide or the SteelHead Deployment Guide.
WAN link
This configuration option is available:
Enable QoS on <interface> with WAN bandwidth: <kbps> kbps
Enables a WAN interface <X-Y>. Specify its bandwidth link rate in kilobits per second. The bandwidth for the default site is automatically set to this value.
Inbound QoS supports in-path interfaces only; it doesn’t support primary or auxiliary interfaces.
The link rate is the bottleneck WAN bandwidth, not the interface speed out of the WAN interface into the router or switch. For example, if your appliance connects to a router with a 100-Mbps link, don’t specify this value—specify the actual WAN bandwidth (for example, T1 or T3).
Different WAN interfaces can have different WAN bandwidths; you must enter the bandwidth link rate correctly for QoS to function properly.
Version Incompatibilities for Inbound QoS Interfaces
SCC 9.0 and later don’t support inbound QoS interface policy pushes on SteelHead 9.0.x. If you’re running this version of the software on your remote appliance, you must migrate your QoS policies to simplified QoS on the SCC. For detailed information about QoS migration best practices, see Managing QoS.
Only SteelHead 8.x.x and lower are supported for this feature. If you’re running these versions of the software, you have limited QoS functionality. We recommend you upgrade to simplified QoS. For detailed information about migrating QoS, see Migrating legacy QoS policies.
