About Network Integration Features : Automatically detecting asymmetric routing

Automatically detecting asymmetric routing
On the Asymmetric Routing page, these options are available for configuring automatic detection of asymmetric routing:
Enable Asymmetric Routing Detection
Detects asymmetric routes in your network.
Enable Asymmetric Routing Pass-Through
Allows traffic to pass through without optimization if it detects asymmetric routing—where packets take different paths to and from a destination. Once detected, the SteelHead stores the pair of IP addresses (client and server) involved in that connection. Any future connections between these same addresses are also passed through without optimization until the cached entry expires.
However, this feature does not optimize asymmetric traffic. If you want to optimize it, you must ensure all traffic to and from the WAN passes through a SteelHead. You can achieve this by using a multiport SteelHead, enabling connection forwarding, or redirecting packets using external methods such as Web Cache Communication Protocol (WCCP) or Policy-Based Routing (PBR).
For details, see the SteelHead Deployment Guide.
