About HTTP acceleration
SteelHead accelerates most HTTP and HTTPS applications, including SAP, customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, financial, document management, and intranet portals.
HTTP settings are under Optimization > Protocols: HTTP. Configure the settings on client-side appliances.
Enable HTTP Optimization
Controls specific optimizations and features related to HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
Strip compression
Removes the Accept-Encoding lines from headers that contain gzip or deflate. These Accept-Encoding directives allow web browsers and servers to send and receive compressed content rather than raw HTML.
HTTP2
Enables the active parsing and optional manipulation of HTTP2 traffic. Deselecting this option will result in SDR Only optimization.
Configuring HTTP optimization can be a complex task. There are many different options and it isn’t always easy to determine what settings are required for a particular application without extensive testing. Automatic configuration creates an ideal acceleration scheme based on a collection of comprehensive statistics per host. Automatic configured can easily be changed to static ones, if needed.
Basic steps for configuring HTTP acceleration include, enabling the feature, followed by detailed procedures, defining which object types to prefetch for URL Learning, and enabling per-host autoconfiguration. Optionally, specify which HTML tags to prefetch for Parse and Prefetch.
For HTTPS (HTTP over SSL) acceleration, you must configure a specific in-path rule that enables both SSL optimization and HTTP optimization.
