This appendix summarizes the NIC status lights for your appliances. Knowing what your NIC’s status lights indicate can help you understand the activity on the NIC or when it might need maintenance. Use this reference to understand the status lights for all supported NIC models.
Two-Port 100-GbE Fiber LR4 Bypass card
The Two-Port 100-GbE Fiber LR4 NIC is only supported on Interceptor 9800 appliances.
These NICs have a power connector cable attached that is not used in the Riverbed SteelHead platforms. The SteelHead systems are designed to fully power these NICs through the interface bus.

Four-Port 1-GbE Copper Bypass card
Two types of Four-Port 1-GbE Copper Bypass cards are available. Both can be installed in the 2U SteelHead CX 5080 and CX 7080 appliances. Type 2 cards are supported on software versions 9.9.0 or later.
The physical ports on the NICs are mapped in proximity to the PCI bus edge connector. The port closest to the edge connector is L0, followed by W0, L1, and W1.
